We can advise on setting up agreements, finding a contractor and negotiating terms. We can also be retained to monitor and advise on the operation to ensure it runs smoothly and be an independent advisor to allow transparency and fairness in its operation.
We can also prepare tenders for new contract farming opportunities that may arise for contractors, be it on arable, mixed or purely livestock enterprises

integrated land management plans
Three of our partners have the Farm Business Adviser Accreditation Scotland Scheme (FBAASS) qualifications meaning we can carry out ILMPs for any eligible farming business.
The grant aided scheme is useful for reviewing your business performance, be it financially, physically or environmentally, and for allowing a fresh pair of eyes to appraise your business. This can include an option appraisal if looking to change your farming policy.
It can also examine more specific aspects of your business, such as business efficiency, potential for organics or woodland, soil management and succession.

Landlord / tenant matters
The firm advises both landlords and tenants on practical and professional matters relating to Agricultural Holdings Legislation in Scotland. This can be ongoing or a one off arrangement, and can include rent reviews, letting your farm, tenancy negotiations, advice on the type of tenancy to be used and waygoing valuations. Business plans for rental tenders can also be prepared.
NOTE: Current topical projects include the Tenants Amnesty, whereby we are preparing a schedule of improvements and accompanying documentation (maps, photographic records) to support tenants improvements. The deadline for lodging these with landlords has been extended to 12th December 2020.
